CHINT Overload Relay Size 12–18A A CHINT 12–18A Thermal Overload Relay is a motor protection device used together with a contactor to protect three-phase AC motors from overload, phase loss, and current imbalance. The adjustable current setting of 12–18A allows it to be matched to the motor's full-load current. Specifications Brand: CHINT Type: Thermal Overload Relay Current Setting Range: 12–18A Rated Voltage: Up to 690V AC Frequency: 50/60 Hz Protection: Overload, phase loss, and phase imbalance Reset: Manual or automatic (model dependent) Standard: IEC 60947-4-1 Common uses Three-phase electric motors Water pumps Air compressors Fans and blowers Conveyor systems Industrial machinery Motor starter panels How it works The overload relay is installed below a contactor in a motor starter. Set the relay to the motor's full-load current (between 12A and 18A). If the motor draws excessive current for too long or loses a phase, the relay trips and opens the control circuit, causing the contactor to disconnect the motor from the power supply. Example: If a motor has a rated current of 15A, adjust the overload relay to approximately 15A.
